MISFITS | Understory — Lavender • Tonka • Vetiver Handmade Tallow Soap She has a few cracks. So do we. 🌿 Meet Understory, one of the first bars to wander into our MISFITS soap collection. When this batch came out of the mold, I did what makers sometimes do—I noticed every little thing that wasn't perfect. A tiny crack. A crooked edge. A swirl that wandered off and did exactly as she pleased. And then I sat with her awhile. I looked at those little marks and thought about my own. The scars. The bruises. The occasional burn from a creative endeavor that absolutely could have been avoided. 😂 The evidence of a life lived, things tried, mistakes made and stories collected along the way. And I realized something: We don't have to be so perfect all the dang time. So I stopped trying to make handmade soap look like it wasn't made by human hands. And MISFITS was born. These bars aren't “seconds.” They're small-batch, handmade soaps allowed to look handmade. Each may have its own crooked edge, wandering swirl, little bump, crack or quirk. No two quite alike. None expected to be. Meet Understory Understory smells like wandering a little farther into the woods than you intended. Lavender • Tonka • Vetiver Soft herbal lavender meets the warm, almost vanilla-like depth of tonka and earthy vetiver for a scent that's creamy, grounding, mysterious and just a little wild. Each bar is individually cut and wrapped by hand in our MISFITS kraft belly band, leaving her perfectly imperfect edges out where you can see them.
